Observation Opportunity @ Ryan Observatory

Member and Volunteer
Observation Opportunity
Saturday May 6

Clear sky event only, no indoor alternative
Current Forecast

Members and their guests are welcome to set up their own personal gear to observe from the amphitheater of the Ryan Observatory. This opportunity provides members with a secure dark sky location and practice with your equipment. With good conditions, we can see the Milky Way from the Observatory site.

Members of any astronomy club or society are welcome to observe with us. A Rittenhouse Volunteer will be on site at sunset to verify your membership and dim lights for appropriate viewing.

The campground is open for those who wish to stay the night. Campsites are 1/2 mile from observatory in a wooded location with obstructed views of the sky. Registration and campsite rental information link here.

Dress Warmly! The observatory 2 may be open depending volunteer participation but that is not a guarantee. The focus tonight is on observing with your personal gear.

Please note there is no sleeping in personal vehicles at the observatory.
