Arrive before gate closes at 4:30 PM
(Sunset is 4:38 PM, Solstice is 4:47 PM)
Gate opens again at 6:00 PM (closes 6:10)
Gate opens at 7:15 PM (closes 7:25 )

Members and their guests are welcome to set up their own personal gear to observe from the amphitheater of the Ryan Observatory. This opportunity provides members with a secure dark sky location and practice with your equipment. With good conditions, we can see the Milky Way from the Observatory site.

A member from RAS will be on site just after sunset to verify memberships or to renew if necessary. Lights will be dimmed for observing.

Plan to arrive just before Sunset 4:30 PM with your astronomy gear (binoculars, cameras, telescopes). Gates close and lock at Sunset.

We will have the gate open again at 6:00-6:10 PM. We will again open the gate at 7:15-7:25 PM. You may line up your car on the entrance driveway if you are early for the opening times.

Dress Warmly! If the observatory is open, please know they are NOT HEATED. Visitor Center is not open for other than bathroom use. Campground is closed for the season, there is no overnight camping.
