Almost 10,000 feet up at the western edge of the Bighorn Maintain Range, lies High Country Lodge, the closest you can stay to Medicine Wheel. This ancient rock circle may be laid out to the stars, or it marks an ancient gathering place for travelers on one of America’s earliest North/South Passages. In either case, it is one of our nation’s darkest locations for stargazing. Medicine Wheel, a most "Mystical site," is easily accessed by car from the lodge.
Join Ted Williams (RAS Educator/President) as he returns to High Country Lodge as your astronomical sky guide. Night sky laser tour and telescope views provided after sunset. Bring your binoculars for a real blast! (If raining we meet in the lodge after dinner for an astronomy presentation.)
Reservations and lodge information available here. Nearby camping is also available at Bald Mountain and Porcupine Creek campgrounds. Remember to dress warm, the lodge has already had it’s first snowfall (and it’s late August!)
